Twas the Night Before... THE ELECTION 2016

'Twas the night before the election, in the Senate and House
All the creatures were shaking like Paul Ryan the mouse.
They’d sought out their donors and lobbyists with care,
Not knowing a President Trump might be there;
While their children and wives were snug in their beds;
Visions of ISIS danced in our children’s heads;
And Obama and his 'mischief, and Hillary in her crap,
Awaited our country while Congress took a nap,

And out on the media there arose such a clatter,
I turned on the TV to see what was the matter.
Away to the remote I flew like a flash,
Turned to the big news channels to hear the Trump-bash.
But there on the set like new fallen snow,
Was an info-babe talking ‘bout a shift in the polls,
And what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But media pundits saying, “we knew ‘twas Trump’s year.”
With a familiar spin so lively and quick,
I knew any moment that I would be sick.

More rapid than eagles Trump’s accusers came,
They’d whistled, and shouted, and called us all names.
Like Bashers! Deplorables, Racists and Piglets.
Homophobes, Xenophobes, Rednecks and Bigots!

Down the chimney St. Comey came with a bound.
Saying likely an indictment this time around.
Before the Democrats had thought him a hero,
But he found more emails, so they called him a zero.
And Julian Assange once thought the left's friend
Leaked emails and now the Dems call him has-been

And Republicans, one by one all came home.
Even Mitch McConnell threw the Donald a bone’
And finally Ted Cruz ended the suspense,
And went on the campaign trail with Governor Mike Pence.
And blue-collar Democrats, even longshoremen,
Everyone (except Erick, Glenn, Mitt and Mormons).

So tomorrow hopefully we’ll end this damned romp.
“Please vote TRUMP tomorrow, and LET’S DRAIN THE SWAMP!”
